What Does the Walking Involve?
For one day of the Retreat (normally the Saturday), we aim to do a full-day of guided high-level walking such as a local mountain/Munro, to enjoy being up high, seeing some fabulous scenery and experiencing a feeling of achievement.
On the other day, (normally the Sunday) we will do a short walk of 1-2 hours as a refreshing break from the coaching activities inside.
Our walks are tailored to each individual group based on their previous experience of hill-walking and levels of fitness. We always walk at the pace of the slowest person and take regular breaks to chat, admire the view, eat snacks and drink water. Generally speaking, we'll be outdoors for 6-7 hours. By taking one step at a time, you may be surprised what you can achieve!
The route is always suitable for novices, and will usually follow an established path. A good level of fitness is required and the route choice will also depend on the weather conditions.
We also do some coaching activities along the way, which can be a different and wonderful way to work through things, in the fresh air and with a spectacular view.
A suggested kitlist will be sent out at the time of booking – please let us know if you are struggling to find items on the list, as we have some spares.

What is the Coaching Like?
Cat is a qualified INPLTA NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) Practitioner and coaching sessions will be predominantly based on NLP coaching techniques. At times and where we feel it’s for the benefit of participants, we may bring in or include other coaching practices.
Coaching can take place around any topic you wish to explore. This could be something ‘big and meaty’ for example; a career change, relationship change or working towards an important goal. Or this could be something smaller but important to you, for example; wanting to start a new hobby, increase your fitness activity or to improve a relationship at work. Each individual is welcome to come with an idea(s) of what they would like to work on during the Retreat (some pre-thinking prompts will be sent out to you closer to the Retreat date to help you with this) or you may choose to just see what comes up during the Retreat. Both approaches work well. We will also suggest topics or themes that we can all explore and work during the week.
Coaching activities will include both one-to-one conversations with Cat, or with another participant on the Retreat and guided group activities.
Our Retreats can help you by providing a safe and nurturing space to think things through, to explore your situation through some guided processes and to reconnect with what is most important to you. At the very least, you will gain new insights into your own situation. You may find you discover a big change that you want to make.
Please visit the Reach the Peak Home page for more detail about what Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) is, and how it is different from therapy or counselling.
