The Trek Route
Set in inspiring scenery, the trek covers 51km (32 miles) over 3 days, following marked trails for most of the way, including parts of the spectacular Rob Roy Way. We walk at a gentle pace, taking plenty of stops to enjoy the view, chat, eat, drink and, of course, do some coaching along the way.
Day 1: Arrive in Aberfoyle for introduction dinner
Accommodation: The Forth Inn
Day 2: Walk Aberfoyle - Callander
Distance: 9.5 miles / 15 km
Timing: 5-6 hours
Description: An unforgettable day’s walk through beautiful scenery as we head through the Menteith Hills towards the pretty town of Callander, which sits on the edge of the Trossachs and is known as the gateway to the Highlands. On the descent towards Loch Venachar, the mountain views are breathtaking.
Accommodation: Coppice House Hotel
Day 3: Walk Callander - Balquhidder
Distance: 11.8 miles / 19km
Timing: 6-7 hours
Description: We immerse ourselves in a proper Highland experience - although the going is good and mainly flat. As we leave Callander, we enter the Highlands along the route of a disused railway line alongside a river and we soon pass the Falls of Leny and St. Brides Chapel. Loch Lubnaig keeps us company for most of the day, with stunning reflections of the surrounding hills. We can enjoy a hot chocolate or lunch in the cosy Forest Retreat cafe, before heading through Strathyre Forest to our overnight stop at Balquhidder, in the heart of Rob Roy country.
Accommodation: Mhor 84 Hotel
Day 4: Walk Balquhidder - Killin
Distance: 10.5 miles / 17km
Timing: 5.5 - 6.5 hours
Description: The final day of our journey sees us walk to Lochearnhead, with spectacular views down Loch Earn, then following the dismantled Glen Ogle railway, across stunning viaducts and past rugged, heather-covered hillsides. From here we can enjoy views of many Munros, such as Ben Vorlich and the Lawers range, before finishing by the dramatic Falls of Dochart in Killin.
Accommodation: Killin Hotel
Day 5: Our trip ends after breakfast. Return to the start point / onwards travel.
